The Crucible: Writing Assignments

1. After reading the play, choose one of the accusers and write a first-person account of one of the scenes in which you feel this person played a significant part. Make sure to tell the account the way THIS CHARACTER would see it. Minimum length: 1 page, typed, double-spaced.

2. After reading the play, choose one of the accused and write a first-person account of one of the scenes you feel was most significant for this character. Make sure to tell the account from THIS CHARACTER'S point of view. Minimum length: 1 page, typed, double-spaced.

3. Choose a song that you feel relates to this play in some way and explain to us how it correlates. Give specific reasons for your choice and include the lyrics of the song with your essay (but not as part of your word count). Your essay must be no less than 300 words without the lyrics you attach.

4. What can you find out about Joe McCarthy? Was he really evil? After studying on your own and looking up sites for study, check out the sites below and see if they give any new information. What do you think about McCarthy? Who was he? Write your response. Minimum length: 1 page, typed, double-spaced.
